Per bend Tenné and Azure in bend a flash throughout between an arrowhead and demivol conjoined and a sword per pale point up all Argent.
Crest
On a wreath of the colors Argent and Tenné a buckler Or bearing three concentric bands Gules, all in back of two fishhooks saltirewise of the first extending over the buckler, palewise an arrowhead Azure with point downward extending over the center band and top points extending beyond the outer band.

Shield
The wing alludes to flight, the arrowhead symbolizes accuracy, the flash refers to swiftness and the sword to combat.
Crest
The blue arrowhead symbolizes the predecessor unit's Presidential Unit Citation (Army). The fishhooks allude to that unit's Valorous Unit Award streamer embroidered FISH HOOK. The buckler represents the defense and counter offensive phases of the campaign in the Republic of Vietnam. The color red denotes the Meritorious Unit Commendation, and red and yellow (gold) the Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with palm, awarded the predecessor organization, the 229th Aviation Battalion.
Background
The coat of arms was originally approved for the 229th Aviation Battalion on 6 April 1966. It was amended to add a crest on 26 July 1978. It was amended to correct the colors of the wreath on 2 November 1983. The coat of arms was redesignated with symbolism revised for the 229th Aviation Regiment on 21 July 1989.
