Air Force Streamers

US Air Force Battle Streamers

In 1947 the US Congress created the Department of the Air Force and established the United States Air Force as a separate service equal to the Army and Navy.
Campaign Streamers are embroidered with the name and years of the campaign.
Combat credit entitles the organization to the appropriate campaign Streamers.
Campaign Streamers are Size 2, (2 3/4" X 3').

Unit Decoration Streamers

Unit Decoration Streamers represent the unit's decorations.  A few examples are, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Organizational Excellence Award, Presidential Unit Citation, Meritorious Unit Commendation.

USAF War Service Streamers

Service Streamers represent the unit's service in the same manner that service medals represent the individual's participation in a theater of combat operations. They represent non combat service in the various theaters of military operations and have no embroidery.

AFI 34-1201 Describes in 2.28.1. Unit Organizational Flag. Streamers denote the unit's service, battle honors, or decorations. All streamers are swallow-tailed ribbons of the same design as the service ribbon for the theater, area of operations, or unit decorations.
