Behind the Design: Heraldic Legacy

Our designs are rooted in the Army Medical Department’s (AMEDD) regimental coat of arms, first established in 1863 and incorporating symbolism dating back to 1818. The emblem features a shield with stars and stripes, a green rod entwined by a serpent (symbolizing healing), and a rooster crest—a homage to medicine’s classical traditions and the motto "Experientia et Progressus" (Experience and Progress). These deeply meaningful symbols are faithfully adapted and approved in accordance with The Institute of Heraldry (TIOH) standards.
