The United States Marine Corps Guidon
The organization guidon is made of red polyester cloth with gold polyester cloth insignia, letters, and numbers sewn on each side. It measures 1.83 feet (22 inches) on the hoist and 2.33 feet (28 inches) on the fly.
In the center of each side, a Marine Corps emblem, consisting of an eagle, globe, and anchor made of gold polyester cloth, is placed. The emblem's dimensions are approximately:
- Eagle's wingspan: 8.5 inches
- Anchor length: 11 inches
- Globe diameter: 5.5 inches
As Stated in the MCO The guidon can accommodate a maximum of 22 characters (letters, numerals, or spaces), with sizes as follows:
- Single character: 6 inches
- 2-3 characters: 4.5 inches
- 4 or more characters: 1.75 inches
For example, in "4 LEB MD":
- "4" is 4.5 inches
- "LEB" and "MD" are each 1.75 inches
Character Placement:
- Higher organization identifiers are in the lower left corner.
- Company identifiers are in the lower right corner.
Design:
- The Marine Corps emblem is centered on an arc with a 60-inch radius.
- "USMC" in single block letters, 4 inches high, is centered above the emblem on the same arc.
- The organization number is placed between the crown of the anchor and the lower left corner of the guidon.
- The company designation letter, abbreviated title, or number is placed in the lower right corner.
- If necessary for clarity, the abbreviated designation of an intermediate organization may be shown directly above the parent organization’s designation.
