Fleet Forces Marine Guidon Specifications:

  1. Material and Color:
    • The guidon is made of red polyester cloth.
    • Insignia, letters, and numbers are made of gold polyester cloth and sewn on both sides.
  2. Dimensions:
    • Hoist: 22 inches (1.83 feet)
    • Fly: 28 inches (2.33 feet)
  3. Emblem Specifications:
    • The Marine Corps emblem (eagle, globe, and anchor) is made of gold polyester cloth.
    • Emblem size:
      • Wingspan: approximately 8.5 inches
      • Globe diameter: 5.5 inches
      • Overall anchor length: 11 inches
  4. Lettering and Numbering:
    • Maximum of 22 characters (letters, numerals, or spaces) per guidon.
    • Character sizes:
      • Single character: 6 inches
      • 2-3 characters: 4.5 inches
      • 4 or more characters: 1.75 inches
    • For example, "4 TANK BN":
      • "4" is 4.5 inches
      • "TANK BN" and "MD" are 1.75 inches each
  5. Placement of Characters:
    • Higher organization identifiers are placed in the lower left corner.
    • Company identifiers are placed in the lower right corner.

Authorized Guidon Type:

  • The Type II guidon is the only authorized version for Marine Corps units and organizations.
    • Design:
      • If needed for clarity, the abbreviated designation of an intermediate organization may be shown directly above the parent organization’s designation.
      • "FMF" in single block letters, 4 inches high, is centered above the emblem on the same arc.
      • The organization number is placed between the crown of the anchor and the lower left corner of the guidon.
      • The company designation letter, abbreviated title, or number is placed in the lower right corner
      • The Marine Corps emblem is centered on an arc with a 60-inch radius.
