Symbolism
Shield
Green and gold are the colors traditionally associated with the Military Police Corps. The demi-sun refers to the Philippines, recalling the unit’s World War II service and campaigns. The eagle’s head symbolizes the principles of freedom that the unit fought for and defends today. The border and barbed wire denote the Battalion’s mission as a Prisoner of War unit.
Crest
The crest is that of the United States Army Reserve.
Background
The first design was approved on 21 August 1942 and cancelled effective 30 March 1993, when the current coat of arms was approved.
