Mexican War Ceremonial Streamer
The Mexican War Ceremonial Streamer represents United States Army campaign participation during the Mexican War of 1846–1848, one of the most significant conflicts of the 19th century in U.S. military history.
The war tested the expanding U.S. Army in major conventional operations, including open-field battles, amphibious operations, siege warfare, and the campaign that ultimately resulted in the capture of Mexico City.
Army organizations credited with participation in an authorized Mexican War campaign may display the corresponding campaign streamer as part of their official organizational honors.

Green with one White stripe.
The authorized campaign inscription is embroidered on the streamer in accordance with U.S. Army specifications.

Historical Significance
The Mexican War was fought from 1846 to 1848 and included some of the most important early campaigns in U.S. Army history.
Under Maj. Gen. Zachary Taylor, American forces won important victories at Palo Alto, Resaca de la Palma, Monterey, and Buena Vista.
A second major campaign under Maj. Gen. Winfield Scott began with the amphibious landing and siege of Vera Cruz. Scott's Army then advanced inland, defeating Mexican forces at Cerro Gordo, Contreras, Churubusco, Molino del Rey, and Chapultepec before entering Mexico City.
Many officers who served during the Mexican War later became prominent military leaders during the American Civil War, making the conflict an important chapter in the professional development and history of the United States Army.
