Description/Blazon

 

Gules, in chief a bar invected Argent, coupled by a fetterlock Or to a bar in base Vert, fimbriated of the second. That for the regiments and separate battalions of the Washington Army National Guard:  From a wreath Argent and Azure, a raven with wings endorsed issuing out of a ducal coronet all Proper. RES VERAE.

 

Symbolism

 

The service of the former organization, the 205tn Air Defense Artillery, is indicated by the red shield for Artillery.  The silver bar represents clouds while the green bar is representative of the earth and things above. The crest is that of the Washington Army National Guard.

 

Background

 

The coat of arms was originally approved for the 205th Coast Artillery Regiment on 5 June 1942.  It was redesignated for the 770th Antiaircraft Artillery Gun Battalion on 25 July 1951.  It was redesignated for the 205th Artillery Regiment on 27 March 1961.  The insignia was redesignated for the 205th Air Defense Artillery Regiment on 6 July 1972.  It was amended to update the blazon on 22 March 1973.  It was redesignated with the blazon and symbolism revised for the 205th Regiment on 21 May 1997.
