The Army World War II American Theater Campaign Streamer represents U.S. Army campaign participation and service in the American Theater during World War II.
The American Theater encompassed military operations conducted throughout North America, the Caribbean, the Atlantic approaches, and other areas associated with the defense of the Western Hemisphere. A major component of Army operations in this theater involved protecting Allied shipping from enemy submarine attacks.
The World War II American Theater Streamer is Light Blue with a narrow Blue, White, and Red stripe in the center and narrow White, Red, Black, and White stripe groupings on each side.
The Light Blue represents the Americas. The White and Black colors refer to the German part of the conflict, while Red and White represent the Japanese part of the conflict along the Pacific coast. The central Blue, White, and Red represents the United States.
The authorized campaign inscription is embroidered in Yellow.

During World War II, Army Air Forces aircraft conducted extensive antisubmarine patrols to protect Allied shipping from German U-boats. Operations were conducted from bases along the East Coast, Newfoundland, the Gulf of Mexico, the Caribbean, and the West Coast.
The U.S. Army displays only one campaign streamer for the World War II American Theater — ANTISUBMARINE. Although other campaigns were designated for the American Campaign Medal, Army units did not receive campaign participation credit for those campaigns.
Army organizations authorized campaign participation credit display the appropriate streamer according to the unit's official Lineage and Honors.
